Skypier - Mersey observatory

The RIBA received 92 entries worldwide and we were one of five Practices short listed. The site offers spectacular views of Liverpool Bay, the Wirral Peninsula, the Sefton Coast and the skyline of Liverpool, as well as Snowdonia National Park.

The design is generated from a response to the site and its context. The design revolves around key concepts of shelter and exposure and the relationship between the land and the sea which creates a structure with a unique sense of place.
